Opera Guild Announces Two Performances

Mrs. Valentine J. Sacco of West Hartford, president of the Connecticut Opera Guild, has announced that for the first time, two performances of the annual Young People's Opera Matinee will be held this year.

The opera "Aida" will be presented to pupils of 6th, 7th and 8th grades on Feb. 2 and 3, at 3:30 p.m. at the Bushnell Memorial Auditorium, Hartford.

Mrs. Sacco said, "The great popularity of these productions, featuring nationally known artists, convinced the Opera Guild members that two performances this year would be welcomed by children in Connecticut's public, private and parochial schools."

She added, "As in the past, music teachers and school superintendents and principals are all working directly with Guild members in an effort to reach all students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades."

"We are most pleased, she continued, "that the presentation of these two performances has been made possible through the generous sponsorship of the Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. and the Society for Savings."

Ticket sales, which start on Jan. 8, are under the chairmanship of Mrs. Nicholas R. Casciano of West Hartford, assisted by Mrs. Lawrence Kellum of Pomfret and Mrs. Charles Skinner of West Hartford.

Mrs. Bruce Hayden of West Hartford is handling ticket distribution to private schools.

Tickets for parochial school pupils are under the chairmanship of Mrs. Benedict M. Holden, Jr. of West Hartford and Mrs. Francis M. Cosgrove of Hartford.

Opera Guild member serving as district chairman in Newington, is Mrs. Joseph Lenoce.
