Full Text

[The following is extracted from the National Aegis, a democratic paper, published in Worcester, Massachusetts.]

Massachusetts Election.

No apology can be necessary for declining a further detail of the votes, given in on the first Monday in April. It would exhibit nothing but disappointment and defeat. Intelligence of this sort will reach our readers in due season, without the aid of newspaper authority. It would have yielded us much pleasure to have been the harbingers of better tidings. We have now only to recommend to them patience resignation, and a steady perseverance in the ways of well doing.

It is difficult to decide, whether the event has happened from an unusual lassitude on the part of the republicans, or from an unprecedented industry and vigilance of the federal party. Whatever may be the cause, it is unquestionably true, we believe, that the federal majority, in Massachusetts, has increased since the last election.
