GRAND FORKS TEAM AND COLORED GIANTS TO MEET IN THE FIRST GAME OF SERIES THIS EVENING

Fast Bunch Of Ball Tossers Will Clash With Local 'Artists At Dakota Park At 6:30 O'clock; Good Contest Looked For.

At 6:30 sharp this evening the first game with the American Colored Giants will be played at Dakota park. The colored men arrived here this morning and are all ready to defeat the local players. The American Giants is composed of men who tried out for the New Professional League in the central states and were eligible except for their youth, being only nineteen years of age. Harold Gordon, traveling manager of the club, stated today. The average age of the players in the team is nineteen, Mr. Gordon said and nearly all of them being high school boys. This group of colored professionals has played nine games this year and has been defeated only once. They intend to keep up their good record while in this city but John Fadden, manager of the local clubs, plans differently and is bound to win one of the three games to be played here. Mr. Fadden has through his efforts secured an exceptionally fast bunch of players to battle for Grand Forks this season and if the Giants succeed in winning one game they are indeed lucky. Fairchild will start the game for Grand Forks this evening with Pierce on the receiving end. C. S. Scott will be on the mound for the Giants and "Kid" Ewing will back him up. Admission to the grounds will be 60 cents and 10 cents extra for admission to the grandstand. Season tickets will be good for the game, but the extra fee of 10 cents will be charged for use of the grand stand. Special cars to the grounds will leave from the Dacotah hotel this evening at 6 o'clock.
