FROM CHINA.

By the arrival, on Saturday morning, of the bark Valparaiso, Captain Lockwood, which left Canton on the 29th of January, and touched at St. Helena on the 12th ult., we have Chinese advices six days later. We have the Canton [Macao] Press to the 27th, but little news.

Mr. Cushing had not arrived.

Accounts from Chusan to the 13th, and from Shanghai to the 9th, had been received. The difficulties thrown in the way of trade at Shanghai had been overcome, and a good many British goods had been sold at satisfactory prices. Trade had not opened at Ningpo on the 9th.

Owing to some dispute between the Hoppo and Linguists concerning fees, there has been a temporary stop of two or three days to all shipping business, chops for either shipping or landing cargo having been refused at the Hoppo's office. The alleged reason was the inability of the Hoppo to pay his officers, all the duties received under the new tariff being carried to the credit of the Imperial Treasury, and nothing left for the expenses of collection. This was regarded by the foreign traders as a device to cover new demands of extra duties, and resisted accordingly.

The latest accounts from Canton state that the differences had been settled, and that business was proceeding as usual.

Another vessel had been wrecked on the Prata shoal, supposed to be the Linnet, (British,) which had been despatched thither on hearing of the wreck of the Porter, from Bombay. The wreck is a barque of 500 tons. The Duke of Wellington, sent to the shoal, saw the wreck of this and three other vessels there—no boats.

The British authorities have been leasing lots of a quarter acre each at Hong Kong for 75 years, at an aggregate annual rent of over $12,000.—The Press estimates the entire ground-rent annually realized by Great Britain from its leases on that Island at about $120,000.

The Governor General of Canton has sentenced the murderers of Dr. McKinlay and Sharp to be beheaded forthwith. The ringleader, Fanasze, being already dead, is to be cut to pieces and stuck up on poles, "as an example." Two other Chinese, who were merely aware of the conspiracy to murder, and did not reveal it, are to be flogged. This energetic conduct of the Chinese authorities has given great satisfaction to the foreigners.—N. Y. Tribune.
