Letter from Choczim, October 20.

In the present Posture of Affairs flatters the Porte to hope for more honourable and more advantageous Conditions of Peace than those propos'd in the Congress of Nimwegen, the Divan has resolv'd to continue the War with the utmost Vigour, and the Grand Seignior has even declar'd that he will sacrifice his own private Treasure for arriving at the Means to procure an honourable Peace. Prince Ragotski has received a Present from his Highness, consisting of a considerable Sum of Money, a great Number of fine Horses, and magnificent Equipages, to put him in a Condition to appear in the Field with Eclat. We have a Confirmation that the Divan is resolv'd on the Siege of Oczakow, and the Army design'd for that Service is already march'd from the Neighbourhood of Bender, under the Command of the Bashaw of Caramania, formerly Count Bonneval, who is to have the Honour of making that Siege.
