Price Stabilizer Pledges No Job Discrimination

WASHINGTON, D. C. - Office of Price Stabilization Director, Michael V. DiSalle, said in an interview last week with Julius A. Thomas, National Urban League industrial relations director, that employment in the price regulation agency would be strictly on the basis of qualifications without regard to race, creed, or color. The OPS is expected to issue directives soon to insure that this policy is followed.

Will Need Workers

It is reported that the Price Stabilization agency will establish and expand regional and local offices throughout the nation. These offices will require large numbers of enforcement officers, investigators, and clerical workers. Through a recent agreement with the Civil Service Commission, wherever civil service lists do not supply enough qualified workers, the state and local employment services will be responsible for recruiting and referring workers to the agency.

However, the OPS is also empowered to hire qualified workers from other sources, if necessary. This means that direct applications to OPS will be accepted and considered.
