Governors Meet
to Discuss Coal

New York - Governors, or their personal representatives, of New England and Atlantic states were called into conference to discuss emergency measures calling for the use and distribution of hard coal substitutes which would avert widespread suffering in the event of suspension of work in anthracite mines next Saturday.

Answering a call sent out by President Coolidge the state officials met with Federal Fuel Administrator Wadleigh, and James C. Brydor, president of the Bituminous Operators' association. Mr. Wadleigh, it was said, was to present for their consideration plan drafted at Atlantic City last July by the bituminous operators. It was said that Mr. Wadleigh, in conference with government officials at Washington, had revised some sections of the proposal.
