Mormon Elders Now Visiting in Wrangell

The four Mormon elders who have been in Alaska since May are now in Wrangell, having arrived here on the Alameda this morning. The personnel of the party is as follows: Heber J. Meeks, stockman and farmer of Kanab, Utah; James Judd, merchant and banker of Hurricane, Utah; Lowell T. Plowman, farmer, of Smithfield, Utah; Alvin Englestad, sheepman, of Orderville, Utah.

The elders have been to the Westward and have also gone into the Interior as far as Fairbanks. They have been looking the country over in a general way and have gathered considerable information. When asked whether they contemplated the establishment of a colony in Alaska, one of the elders stated that he was not in a position to say. He said they had been sent North to investigate conditions here and that they would make their report to the Conference, and the matter would then be in the hands of that body.
