The Vote of Lancaster Barely Gets in and Cuts Quite a Prominent Figure.

At ten minutes to twelve o'clock Friday night, Judge R. E. Burke, county judge, was awakened from his slumbers by a loud knocking at his door. On attending the summons he found that it was a runner from Lancaster with the returns of the election held in that precinct on the constitutional amendments and the location of the state university. This was the last day, and had the returns from Lancaster been ten minutes later they would not have gotten in on time, according to law, to be counted.

"I am afraid you are rather late, my friend," said Judge Burke to his visitor. "No I ain't," replied the courier, "for I have Dallas city time and it lacks ten minutes to 12 o'clock, so for God's sake hurry up and count the Lancaster vote before old Father Time shuts her out." The judge inspected the family clock and the faithful hands indicated ten minutes to 12 o'clock. The vote was counted in due time and as will be seen the vote of Lancaster cut quite a prominent part in the election, especially regards the constitutional amendments. Before it was counted the county of Dallas stood in favor of the constitutional amendments, but afterward it was vice versa by a good majority. Out of twenty-five voting places, 9 boxes were not returned.

The entire vote of Dallas city and county with the vote of Lancaster added, now stands as follows:
