Rumours.—The National Journal gives among the rumours of the day at Washington, that Com. David Porter—of Mexico—is to be appointed Secretary of the Navy, in place of John Branch: and that James Hamilton, Jr. of South Carolina, is to take the place of John H. Eaton, as Secretary of War; and that Mr. Eaton is to succeed Joel R. Poinsett as Minister to Mexico. It has been intimated for some time that the "Biographer of Jackson" has been desirous to leave Washington—is unwilling to return to Tennessee—and therefore a foreign embassy must be provided for him.
