NORFOLK, NOV 3

Mutiny - Barnabas Taylor, mate, of Cape Cod, and Nehemiah Barnstable, seaman, of Maine, belonging to the sch'r Lincoln, Capt. Hawthorne, from Barbadoes, bound to Alexandria, (detained below by head winds since Monday last,) were yesterday committed to the jail of this Borough, for a mutiny on board said sch. Upon going on board his vessel, Capt. H. found a pistol which had been taken from his birth and loaded by the mate. The conduct of these men had become so mutinous from the time of sailing from Barbadoes, and so much so on the present occasion, that Capt. H. considered it unsafe to proceed on his voyage, and came up and gave information to Lt. Com. Norris, of the U S. sch's Shark, who very promptly sent his boat down, and brought the Lincoln up into this harbor, where she anchored, and sent the mutineers on board the Shark for better security during the night.
