Full Text

Philosophical.—We have been informed that it has been lately ascertained, in the most satisfactory manner, that the luminous appearance, or light, which is seen at night in the ocean and in salt water, is produced by animals of a gelatinous substance. These animals are of various sizes. and so nearly of the colour of water, that the smaller kind can scarcely be distinguished on a superficial view from drops of water. We may perhaps be shortly favoured with an account of some of the experiments on this interesting subject.
