Yesterday the Lords passed the Bill, to imprison the Provost of Edinburgh, and ordered the same to be sent to the Commons, by Two of the Judges: The Substance of which is, That Alexander Wilson, Esq; the Provost, be imprisoned for one Year, and disabled for ever hereafter from holding any Office in Great-Britain, because he did not take Care to prevent the Murder of Capt. Porteous, notwithstanding he was apprized of it: That the City-Guard be demolished, because it proved of no Use, on that unhappy Occasion: And that the Nether-Bow Port be taken down, because it hinders an open Communication between the City, and a Place call'd Cannon-gate, to the great Encouragement of Riots. Their Lordships also passed the Bill for building a Bridge at Westminster. And a Bill to prevent Interludes at the University of Cambridge.
