Full Text
The ex-King of Naples' proclamation, dated Farnese Palace, Rome, and declaring the marriage of Miss Hamel and Prince Louis null and void, seems comedy, but not, however, so far as Miss Hamel is concerned. Her position here is considered extremely precarious. All civil and ecclesiastical courts on the continent will hold her marriage null and void. The Emperor of Brazil and Prince Aquila declare it void, and that they will not be responsible for one cent of Prince Louis' debts. Whenever he tires of Miss Hamel and exile from Europe, he knows he has but to cast off Miss Hamel and return to Europe, and she can advance no claims upon him which will be sustained by any authority on the continent. Miss Hamel's history will be like that of Miss Patterson, of Baltimore, who married Prince Jerome Bonaparte. Prince Louis' family are active in taking measures to break the marriage, and to ruin his fortune if he clings to Miss Hamel. -Paris letter.
