New Color for the 17th.-We saw a new color for the 17th regiment in the Governor's room to-day. It is of blue silk, fringed with yellow, showing in the center on each side, the suggestive front and back views of the State arms. Beautifully painted and gilded. Above and below, in gilt letters, on scrolls of a crimson ground, are "Corinth, Oct. 4th. 1863," and "Champion Hills and Vicksburg. July 4th. 1863." The color and staff are elegantly finished, the materials being of the best, and the work done in the choicest style of the art in Chicago.
This flag will be dear to the eyes of the gallant boys of the 17th, because it bears a record that proves their devoted bravery, and is hallowed by the memory of many a fallen comrade, whose blood tinges every victory. They will proudly bear it in their midst, and when occasion presents, enlarge the number of its triumphs.-
