TO OUR FOLKS ABROAD

Dear Folks:

Peace be unto you from Zion this first Sunday in February.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
II Timothy 2:15.

Another Sunday gone into history. We have had bright sunshine today. The ground is covered with white glistening snow. The Bible School and the Communion Service were well attended.

I was talking with Meryle Doty, one of the twins. Their baby, Sandra Ann, is now ten months old. She and her mother attended her first birthday party on February 1st.

Annabell Lucy gave a party for her little girl's second birthday. Penny Ann enjoyed it all, also all the nice gifts the little friends brought.

Deacon G. Wiedman is 75 today, instead of 73, as I said in my last letter, and he was in his place as usher. What better place could he spend his birthday than in the house of God.

Nora Turner and Helen Rendall have a birthday February 5th.

Mrs. Mellor and daughter, Ann, of South Africa, have birthdays on February 6th.

Mrs. Tom Gallagher's birthday is February 6th.

Mrs. F. Young will be 79 on February 9th.

Lois Kutz's birthday is February 10th.

Ethel Zweizig returned from Florida last Thursday and on the same train were Ross and Jessie Burgess returning from Florida. Ruth Burgess Andrews took care of her brother's home and family while they were away.

Ethel Mintern left last Thursday for Florida. She called her mother Friday evening to say that she had arrived safely but that the train was three hours late.

Mr. James Craig is spending a month in Florida visiting his sister and her daughter in Bradenton, and also his son, Douglas, in Miami, who is attending the university.

Stephen Pefley is now located in Los Angeles, where he expects to further his education in a school of photography. His brother, Joseph, is recuperating nicely from the accident in which he fell and broke his leg.

Mrs. Caroline Baker returned from a visit with her daughter and family in Stubenville, Ohio. She also visited her brother, Walter DePew, in Columbus, Georgia.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brady arrived in Florida last Thursday. They sent a wire back to their sons. Grandma is taking care of the home and the children.

Betty and Eddie Hammerslag and little daughter are now living in Michigan City, Indiana, where Eddie is working. Father and Mother Capp are going to miss them.

Mr. and Mrs. Fenton are also back from Florida. They were in St. Petersburg.

Nice to see the whole family of Ed Lehman's in church. Mildred in the Choir. Calvin and his wife and the other two boys and Mother Lehman-Morey with them.

George and Lutie Shaw visited the Tom Hollingshead's in Wilmette a week ago Sunday.

On January 25th, Florence McCulloch looked out of her upstairs window and saw a robin in her back garden.

Mother Emanuelson is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Ida Voliva, in Evanston for the winter. Mrs. Voliva has not been well.

On January 16th, Claire Shumaker was married in New York to Lt. Robert Everett Boyd. They drove to Zion and visited her mother, Mrs. Van Buren Shumaker and Grandma Grossman in Zion Home. They expect to make their home in California.

On Friday evening we took supper with our son and daughter, Arthur and Edith Wright, and Mother Bird. Edith prepared a delicious meal. The boys enjoyed being together and we all spent a very pleasant evening. This time last year Edith was very sick. Trust in God, He will see you through.

Mrs. Josephine Nevins is much better.

From the folks at Home,
