Mr. Hughs Was the Bidder, Not the Buyer

Editor Keowee Courier:

Please permit me to correct an error
that was made in connection with the
sale of the Confederate Memorial coin
at the Jubilee celebration.

It was announced and reported that
the coin was knocked down to me; as
the highest bidder. On the face of it,
that would appear that I bought it in-
dividually. The fact is that I was
merely the bidder for a group of Wal-
halla citizens buying the coin for the
town.

Will you kindly give this publicity
to keep any false impression from get-
ting abroad?

Very truly yours,

W. C. Hughs.
