Hon. H. L. Jarnagin and the U. S. Senate.

Editors Clarion: While many are looking around among the names of Mississippi's statesmen for her next United States Senator, that of Hon. H. L. Jarnagin, of Noxubee, has not, we believe, been mentioned. Judge Jarnagin has long stood upon the highest round of his profession in East Mississippi. He is a gentleman of unsullied reputation, both morally and politically; with a giant intellect, richly stored with the experience of thirty years' labor in the law. Added to this, is a sound discretion, and a remarkable forecast in judgment. Prior to the war, Judge Jarnagin was an old line Whig, of the same school as his brother, Spencer Jarnagin, of Tennessee, who served that State in the U. S. Senate, in the days of Clay and Webster—their daily and acknowledged compeer.

Judge J. is now the Democratic member elect to the next Legislature from Noxubee county, and will make an excellent member; but the country demands the services of such men in our national councils—and Hon. H. L. JARNAGIN would be the "right man in the right place," in the United States Senate.
