Full Text

PARADISE VALLEY.

This is the way the editor of the Palouse (Colfax) Gazette talks of the country in his section—Eastern Washington Territory and Western Idaho:

"Our road took us through Spring and Missouri Flats, where we beheld many pleasant homes, surrounded by all the attractions of country life and large fields of rich loamy soil, which, judging from appearance, must have yielded immense crops. After riding for five hours through as rich an agricultural country as one could wish to see, we crossed from Washington into Idaho, and descended into Paradise Valley. We pause a moment—the sight that greeted our eyes was truly magnificent. As far as the eye could reach over valley and rolling plain, were to be seen comfortable farm houses and broad acres of grain fields, which, in the mellow light of the setting sun, presented a picture alike gratifying to the artist and agriculturist."
