Full Text

Kentucky—It appears by several letters published in the Telegraph, breathing disappointment and vexation, that the Jackson party in the Legislature actually lost their candidate for Speaker, against whom Mr Quarles, (by means of corruption and bargain, of course) was elected: One of the writers very unwisely intimates the fact, that the Jackson party expected some of their men would desert, and, in the elegant language of the author, they "noted every one who done so." So it seems there were some of the party who actually did "done so!" This implies that the Jackson party are by no means so sure of their strength in the Legislature as has been supposed.
