Late last evening arrived in this port the ship George, Capt. Hunter, in 8 weeks from Lisbon.

By this vessel the following interesting account is received, viz.

Extract of a letter from Lisbon, Sept. 13, 1788.

"This city is in the utmost consternation on account of the death of our Prince, the heir apparent to the crown of Portugal, who died the day before yesterday, aged 27 years and some months. With him has flown those brilliant hopes of future political happiness which the enlightened patriots of the kingdom expected to enjoy from the æra of his accession to the throne."
