Full Text

New Provost Marshal.—Capt. A. T. Ready has resigned his position as Provost Marshal of the 10th District, and Captain Norris, of Cadiz, has been appointed to fill the vacancy. Captain Norris is a gallant and brave soldier. He lost a leg at the battle of Kenesaw Mountain, while in temporary command of the regiment, and being thus disabled for the front, he takes a position of honor at home, made vacant by the resignation of A. T. Ready, who has frequently been heard say that all Lincoln's civil offices should be conferred on the gallant wounded soldiers. Early last summer he made propositions to several of Lincoln's office-holders hereabouts, to resign and give their places to the wounded soldiers, but none of them could "see it," and he has now set the example solitary and alone, for there is not another Republican office-holder in the District, who has given place to a wounded soldier.
