Church Women Meet
The Atlanta Branch of the Women's
Department of the National
Fraternal Council of Churches met
Monday at 3:30 o'clock at the First
Congregational Church on Houston
Street. About forty women representing
six different denominations
were present and carried out an
interesting and helpful program on
the subject - The Role of The
Church in Desegregation, as it
relates to the Home and School.
Mrs. George Townes, the main
speaker gave a most helpful and
appropriate talk, naming many
ways in which mothers and teachers
may help in bringing this
change about. Other ladies present
made helpful remarks.
The ladies of the church served
refreshments and all enjoyed a
social fellowship with the pastor's
wife, Mrs. H. C. McEwen as hostess.
The next meeting will be the
first Monday in June at Liberty
Baptist Church. The subject will
be - The Role of the Church in
Desegregation as it Relates to the
Local Church.
Mrs. Geneva Haugabrooks is the
president; Mrs. J. E. Terrell, Recording
Secretary.
