In the campaign of 1761, the Hereditary Prince of Brunswick was taken prisoner by a party of French, but immediately rescued by the desperate bravery of Capt. Maclean, his aid de camp. During the Prince's short stay in England, amidst all the amusements and dissipation in which he was necessarily engaged, his gratitude could not forget poor Maclean, who fell in the last action of the last campaign in Germany. He enquired if he had any surviving relations, for whom he could ask any favour of the King.
