THEY write from Paris, That a Master piece of Mechanicks has been lately shewn to the Quality there. It is a Statue representing one playing upon the Flute, in the Taste of that which is at the Tuilleries. It will hold a real Flute of the ordinary Tone to its Mouth, and play several Tunes upon it, by the Help of certain Springs. The Motions of the Lips and Fingers are very fine, and the Notes are swelled or sunk, plaid soft or strong, with such Propriety, that the Image seems to express itself as if it had a real Soul.
