Starlings, Pungoteague, Nandua And Occohannock Creeks Taken Up In Detail
Congressman S. O. Bland presided at the meeting last Saturday afternoon at Accomac when the various waterway improvements now under consideration by the U. S. Engineer, were discussed. There are several projects in both counties upon which local business men have requested governmental action and all of these projects have been handled by the Chamber of Commerce under the guidance of Mr. Bland.
Many of those notified of the meeting and who are directly interested in some one of the improvements were not present.
Starlings, Pungoteague, Nandua and Occohannock Creeks were taken up in detail with persons from these respective sections and the entire situation gone over by Congressman Bland and Ernest Ruediger, chairman of the Waterways Committee of the Chamber of Commerce.
Information revealed that additional facts may be secured with which to approach the U. S. Engineer when the question comes up before the Board of Engineers.
At the suggestion of Mr. Bland the Chairman of the Waterways Committee, Mr. Ruediger will assist the different groups in all possible new facts and figures to support the demand for improvements.
