Work on the two new business buildings to be erected in the heart of the business district in Winslow, was started this week With the arrival of the workmen employed by Northern Bros. Construction Company, of Phoenix, this week, work was started immediately on excavations for the new Trimble building and by Thursday pouring of concrete for the foundations was begun to be followed by similar procedure on the walls, which will be of reinforced concrete instead of brick. It is hoped to push the work rapidly to completion, according to the contractors, so that the building will be ready for occupancy by the Penney and Pav'n Takit stores by September 1st.
Olds Brothers, who have the contract for erecting the new home of The Mail, started in this week and excavations for the foundations have been completed. Work of pouring the foundations and floors will follow this week and erection of the walls will be under way by next week. The building is expected to be ready for occupancy by sometime between the first and tenth of September.
