Trip to White Cloud.

In company with H. W. Peter and Col. B. B. Frazer, we visited, on last Saturday, the above named place. We found everything prospering finely. Much had been told to us respecting the location of White Cloud, but in no particular had it been overrated. Large banks have been cut away, gulleys filled up and houses erected almost by magic. Building material is in the greatest abundance with the exception of lumber. Large rock quarries have been opened, where in the greatest of plenty can be found the very finest quality of building stone.—Excavations are being made and several large brick buildings will be put up immediately. A large steam flouring mill will be completed by next spring, which is to cost not less than twenty-five thousand dollars. The machinery for another steam saw-mill—for there is one already in operation, but which is wholly inadequate to supply the present demand for lumber—is on the ground, and will soon be put in operation. Two hotels, and several dry goods and grocery stores seem to be doing a thriving business.—A newspaper is published in the town, which we understand has a good circulation, and which is, in its appearance, creditable to the place.

White Cloud is favorably located for receiving the trade of the back country. Roads of easy grade leave the town in every direction.

Coal banks have been found near the place, which are not newspaper coal banks. We saw large quantities of it laying on the levee, which looked to be as good as that found anywhere. There is yet room on the town tract for a few more families, and we would advise all who contemplate settling in White Cloud to go immediately and select property.—Holt County News.
