Field Trials Will Start Wednesday
The annual field trials of the Virginia Fox Hunters Association will be held in Louisa county, near Charlottesville, this week Wednesday through Saturday.
The bench show is scheduled Wednesday night, with daily casts Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Derbies and all age hounds will be run together, but scored separately.
The casts will be in the old Bibb's Store neighborhood. An abundance of foxes is reported and dogs have been kept out of the area for weeks, it is reported. Association officials have already turned loose about 30 foxes and another one will be set free for each morning cast.
With the countryside of historic Louisa county in colorful fall dress, its pretty, rolling fields and woods will be echoing to the baying of the hounds. The busy judges on horseback, the little bands of mounted spectators who gallop through the woods, and the colorful line-up of spectators along the starting fringe of the casts make one of Virginia's classic fall attractions.
