Full Text

From a London Paper.

Of HOLLAND-in brief.

Rent into factions, most bitterly exasperated against each other, these unhappy provinces present a frightful picture of a country destroyed by civil war. The stadtholder's party, insolent and rapacious, have every time they have had it in their power, insulted the subdued patriots, and ousted them from every office of honour and profit from the highest to the lowest, and in this they are but too well assisted by the stadtholder himself. The soldiers have plundered indiscriminately in many instances-but the property of the patriots, even to trifling articles of furniture have been stolen, burnt, or otherwise destroyed : And men, women and children, murdered or exiled to other places with scarce any thing to subsist on. To repeat instances would be too painful a task-and indeed the misery of the people exceeds the power of description.
