The Eagle Screams.

A peculiar accident happened to our transmission line wire late last Saturday morning which put the electric current out of commission for a couple of hours. Just this side of Oberlin a large eagle soaring along decided to stop for a rest and seeing a good lighting place on one of the steel poles sailed down and lit on the cross-arm.

Unthoughtedly it placed one foot out on the copper wire for support - and zip! 13,200 volts current shot through it shifting the current wire to pole and the earth, shortly burning one wire in twain and letting the bird drop lifeless to the earth. Norcatur Dispatch
