FRYEburg ACADEMY.—The annual exhibition of this Academy, took place on Wednesday last.—The Trustees, Preceptor, and Pupils moved in procession about eleven o'clock, from Masons' Hall to the Meeting House, where the exercises of the day were introduced by an ingenious and appropriate prayer by the Rev Mr. Porter of Conway. An Oration was delivered by Mr. Ebenezer F. Steadman, which was correctly written, and very handsomely spoken.

In the afternoon, several Dialogues were spoken. and a Comedy performed, entitled the Self Admirer, written by Rousseau.

In the Evening a Tragedy, The Persian Patriot, written by Mr. Foret.

In these several performances the characters were generally well supported ; and, in many instances, so well as to command the approbation and applause of a very crowded audience.

But when speaking of the Pupils, the Preceptor, Mr. Cook, must not be forgotten.—We do not forget him; for in praising the Pupils, we praise him to whose unwearied exertions they are indebted for the rapid improvements they have made, and are still making; and also attends alike to their literary pursuits, their manners and their morals. -He is not only a preceptor, but a friend and father to the youth committed to his care.

And ought not such a man to be seconded and supported ?—Ought not his heart to be encouraged and his arms strengthened by all whose local situation and circumstances enable them to lend their assistance.--

Ought not those who reside in the neighborhood of the Academy, and who are so much benefited by it, to do all in their power to accommodate the residents from other towns, and render them comfortable and happy.

It is hoped they will do this in future. If they do not, the institution will ultimately be destroyed. it cannot be supported by the Preceptor alone, with all his talents and all his virtues-
