BLOWS SMOKE OUT EARS

Boston Youth Has Hole Through Head That Puzzles Science.

Boston, Aug. 7. Boston specialists are puzzled over the strange case of Harry Shanley, American war veteran, who has an open passage in his head extending from ear to ear.

The former soldier can pass as many as fifteen buttons through one ear and out the other. He was in France with the Canadian army, when a German shell exploded over his head, deafening him. Although his vocal cords remain, physicians have told Shanley, he will eventually lose his voice. Shanley can put a wad of paper in his mouth and remove the same from either ear. He is being treated at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
