SAD ACCIDENT.
A Little Girl Fatally Burned.
A sad accident occurred to Mary Lytle, a 21 months old daughter of Scott Lytle residing on Andrew street, on Saturday night, by which she lost her life. It appears that Mrs. Lytle went to call on Mrs. Abner Supplee on South Queen street in the evening, taking with her her daughter Daisy aged 13 years and little Mary. The children remained at Mrs. Supplee's while their mother and Mrs. S. went up street. About 9 o'clock the smallest child was taken to the water closet by her sister, who left her there for a moment. A lighted candle was left standing near the little one and while alone she pulled it over to her, setting fire to her clothing. A little colored boy who was near and who saw the accident, ran to the assistance of the child and turned a running hose upon it, extinguishing the flames. The little girl was taken into the house and Dr. M. L. Herr was sent for. It was found she was badly burned about the arms and had inhaled the flames. She received the closest attention, but at about 10 o'clock this morning she died of her injuries. The child was unusually bright for her age and had many friends.
