MORE OF MILLERISM.--Millerism has a greater show of argument than fanaticism usually offers; it takes stronger hold of the reason; we are not, therefore, surprised that within the vortex should be drawn some minds of the higher class. But in the course of eight or ten weeks it will reach its altitude. They originally named, as the time for the general winding up, the twenty third of April. As this period approaches, they are making an effort to set it ahead. But it will be abortive. The first of May will see the wane of that fanaticism-not its extinction but its wane. Some will cling to it till the end of the year, and then hundreds will throw away their bibles, and become fanatical unbelievers--for fanaticism is not confined to christianity, and those make a vital mistake who think it is. We say to the people-keep quiet. The movement must have its own way, and will work out its own destruction.--Portland Amer.
