Full Text

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 9.
A letter published from Rev. Dr. Duffield, Pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church of this city, details an interview he had with Fremont, when the following questions were put: "Were you baptized in the Roman Catholic Church? Did you ever take the Sacrament in it? Are you a Catholic?" To each of these questions he answered directly in the negative, "No."
He further declared that in none of the sacraments, peculiar to the members to that church, had he ever taken any actual part.
"Were you baptized in the Episcopal church? Were you confirmed in that church? Are you now an Episcopalian?" To each of these questions he announced distinctly, "Yes." He farther stated that when he was baptized in the Episcopal church, he was old enough to know what was done, and that he still had a very vivid recollection of the scene. The interview was frank and cordial, in the highest degree, and everything in the way of courtesy that I could desire.
