Masses of brilliant flowers in gay containers and potted plants in all sizes and varieties filled the Community Center Sunday for the third annual Garden Show.
Grand award for exhibits in one show went to Mrs. C. C. Saeman, Mrs. Bea Nachtweib, president, announced. The grand award is based on the number of points given to the various entries judged by Alice Given, a member of the sponsoring Garden Club, took 3 blue ribbons for her entries in the exhibits, and Bea Nachtweib, club president, and Mrs. C. C. Saeman tied with 2 blue ribbons apiece.
Large crowds gathered to see the results of Kodiak's summer gardening. Vegetables, as well as flowers, and also enjoyed the paintings shown by Mrs. Agnes Crutcher, Mrs. Aileen Wade, and Paul Bond.
Besides plants and flowers, the show boasted several sea life exhibits, including 3 goldfish, pressed flowers and other novelties.
Winners in the various groups were the following, with exhibits judged by Dr. A. Holmes Johnson, Sister Hilary, and H. S. Cloutier of the base.

Fruits, Jerry Sears, 'Old Henry' from Parks Cannery; vegetables, Old Henry, Spruce Haven Gardens, Mrs. Sears; canning Bea Nachtweib, Mrs. Wheeldon, Mrs. Jay Wiley.
