Full Text

Extract of a letter from an American gentleman of information, who has lately passed through France and the Netherlands, to his friend in this town, dated London June 5.

--"I am very confident that the French cannot be subdued; and in case Conde and Valenciennes should be taken, the combined powers will not be a single step nearer the object they aim at, than they are at present; because Lisle, and several other towns are so strongly fortified, that it is impossible they should advance into the country, even were they superior in the field, which I am sure is not the case."
