Horace Weir Receives Letter From Beven

Mr. Horace Weir, veteran Durant railroad conductor, retires today from his duties after being employed for forty-four years by the Illinois Central Railroad.

Mr. Weir was born February 29, 1873, and entered the Illinois Central service as flagman on the Aberdeen District in January, 1896. He has been in train service on this district ever since.

Following is a letter written by President J. L. Beven, president of the system and delivered to Mr. Weir today:

Chicago, Illinois,

November 30, 1939.

Dear Mr. Weir:

There will be a lot of good wishes extended to you today, but none of them will be more sincere than those which I send you on behalf of the railroad you have served so conscientiously these last forty-four years.

Truly do we all wish for you in the years ahead an abundance of good health, happiness and all those things which make life worthwhile. Certainly a lifetime of honest endeavor such as yours deserves no less a reward.

Goodbye and the very best of luck to you.
