RECOMMENDATION.
The undersigned, members of a committee appointed by the General Association, to consider what may be done to secure an efficient religious paper in the State, find difficulties in the way of establishing a large and expensive paper, that seem at present, quite insurmountable. After mature consideration, we can propose nothing better than that the Religious Herald changing and somewhat enlarging its form, should be continued. With the conduct and ability of the paper, its tasteful and truly instructive selections, its brief, but spirited articles, and the general correctness of its opinions, on questions of religious interest, we are fully satisfied; and we earnestly recommend the paper to the favor of the ministers, and the patronage of the churches. It will be manifest to all who understand our interests and necessities, that we want a religious vehicle, through which the churches may be addressed, and one that is Congregational in its character. And we are not without the hope that the Religious Herald may be so extended, in its patronage, that by the beginning of another year it may be yet farther enlarged, and thus grow up gradually to such dimensions as to meet the more extended wants of the public.
