The complaint has always been made that southern oil acreage is too high, but it is very noticeable that the man who paid the price is the man who reaped the millions out of the development.

Wildcatting at Brownwood.

E. E. Kirkpatrick, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce at Brownwood, Tex., was here today. Mr. Kirkpatrick is promoting the drilling of some oil wells in his county and was here to obtain a lease on some lands there which belong to John Labbait, his brothers and his mother, who reside here. No oil has been found there, but surface indications are said to be good, and a test will be made with the drill.
