$2,000,000 LOSS AT VICTORIA
Fire Threatened to Wipe Out Business District
NO BODIES ARE REVEALED
Scores of People Had Narrow Escapes and Some of Them Received Minor Injuries in Disaster Late Last Night.

Victoria, B. C., Oct. 27.—To-day's estimate of the fire which threatened to destroy the entire business district of Victoria late last night places the damage at $2,000,000. A dozen of the biggest buildings were damaged and several were destroyed, including the Western Union building, the Victoria Times and the Spencer upholstering establishment.

Search of the ruins to-day has not revealed any bodies, so it is thought there were no fatalities. Scores of people had narrow escapes, and some of them received minor injuries.
