CHARLESTON, S. C.-(ANP)- In what is believed to be the first action of its kind, the Protestant Episcopal diocese of South Carolina has gone on record opposing the national Episcopal church's stand that racial segregation is un-Christian.
Delegates at the 66th annual convention of the diocese adopted 94-43 a resolution declaring "there is nothing morally wrong in a voluntary recognition of racial differences and that voluntary alignments can be both natural and Christian."
The resolution was forwarded to the church's national office.
