We are permitted to make the following cheering extract from a letter dated TREmONT, Illinois, Feb. 12th, to a gentleman of this city:
"We have had a grand celebration of HARRISON'S BIRTH-DAY. J. L. James, Esq. presided, and made an admirable speech; and lots of speeches were made and sentiments given. We were honored with the presence of EIGHT SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT UNDER HARRISON: and each of them came forward and bore testimony to his patriotism, courage and generosity of soul. At Peoria they had a tremendous time. I will send you a paper next week, giving the account. This State will go for Harrison by 5000 MAJORITY at least. The changes that are going on are almost incredible. You never saw such enthusiasm. THE OLD SETTLERS GOIN FOR HIM TO A MAN. Had any other candidate been nominated, the State would have gone 5000 the other way. Indiana, it is said, by our knowing ones, will give at least 19,000 majority for the OLD HERO. Almost all THE ORIGINAL JACKSON men (with us) are going for Harrison. Cheering news comes to us by every mail from Ohio. He will sweep EVERY THING West, except Missouri."
