The Tuscarawas Chronicle has the following: "On last Friday, the family of Philip Myers, near Trenton, was strangely poisoned. He had purchased some arsenic to kill rats, and placed it in a cupboard. It is supposed that mice got into the arsenic, that it stuck to their feet or bodies, and that they scattered it over a piece of liver, which was in the cupboard. Next morning the family ate heartily of the liver, and in a short time several of the family showed symptoms of being poisoned and for time were dangerously sick, but at last accounts were thought to be recovering."
