LOWLY GAS STATION ELEVATED BY WOMEN

BOSTON (AP)—The evolution of the gas station from a dingy shack to an aristocratic little structure of architectural merit is woman's gift to highway landscape.

A service supervisor of a large oil corporation in New England freely admits the influence of the feminine driver thus:

"There is no denying that our service is designed to please the rapidly growing number of woman drivers. In fact, we hardly give the men a thought, for if our services satisfy their wives and sisters and mothers it cannot but satisfy them.

"The new driver has become discriminating. She will not halt anywhere along the turnpike or at any street corner just because a pump has been planted there."
