Full Text
Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 7.-Thomas W. Hardwick, former United States Senator, was nominated for Governor of Georgia in yesterday's run-on primary, according to complete unofficial returns compiled to-day by the Atlanta Constitution.
The nomination, which Mr. Hardwick won over Clifford Walker, the former State Attorney General, is regarded as equivalent to election. Hardwick carried 100 counties with 236 county unit votes, or 42 unit votes more than the required majority, on the face of the returns upon which this estimate is based.
The same figures gave Walker 54 counties with 148 votes in the State Convention, which will meet Oct. 25 to declare the result. One county with two votes failed to hold the run-off election.
Hardwick was supported by Thos. E. Watson, the Democratic nominee for the United States Senate. Both are active opponents of the League of Nations, and each defeated a pro-League candidate.
