CHICAGO
Unless the South immediately satisfies some of the demands of the Negro population, Dixie will lose a vast number of the ten million Negroes in the region in the next decade.
That is the prediction of a white southerner, David L. Cohn, in a significant article in the January issue of NEGRO DIGEST, which discloses that the end of the war will not halt the migration of Negroes to the North.
"Southern Negroes will continue to leave the South after the war so long as they believe they will be better off in the North," declared Cohn.
Pointing out that colored laborers are an economic asset to the South, Cohn says, "that a positive program must be offered by the whites if they want Negroes to stay in the South."
