Woodpecker Made Trouble

The cause of early morning rappings and the jingling of the telephone bell in the home of Mrs. Joseph Heaslip at Hagerstown, Md., had been looked for in vain by police and telephone officials. So at three o'clock in the morning, Mrs. Heaslip arose and sat down by a window in the rooms where the sounds had been registering. Shortly after four o'clock a red-headed woodpecker began operating on a telephone pole. The phone instantly rang and the rappings of the woodpecker came through the room amazingly audible.
