A Fatal Dream.

A young man named John O'Neill, an employee of the Joliet, Ill., iron and steel company, had a serious nightmare on the night of the 27th ult. He went home from work at 1 o'clock in the morning and retired to rest. Soon after he got up and jumped out of the window, and fell nineteen feet on a pile of stones, bruising himself externally and internally. The cause of the dream, as he asserts, was as follows: He and several others had been discussing what they would do in case of a railway collision such as the one on the Alton road. His idea was to jump out of the car window. When he went to sleep he commenced dreaming, and imagined he was on a train about to collide, and, to save himself, he jumped out of the window. His recovery is considered doubtful.
